WAR Celebrates Its 4th Anniversary!

Posted by Kai Schober | 2012 Sep 18 14:13 -0400 GMT

Four years ago today, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning officially launched.  Over the course of those four years, countless brave warriors have battled long and hard across the varied terrains and battlefields that make up the Old World.  The tide of battle has shifted constantly and spread around the world giving credence to the adage, WAR is everywhere.  From every corner of the globe people have joined together in defense of their realm and we salute those warriors, every one.

A heartfelt thanks to all of our players for helping us hit this momentous mark.  To help celebrate the occasion, we will be enabling 10 days of bonus XP/RP starting today.  Anyone can jump on and enjoy these bonuses and the fireworks that can be looted from the corpses of your foes!

Letter From The Producer

Greetings all,

With our feet firmly planted in the new year, a new patch out the door, the live event active on the servers, and our thoughts on the future, it seems a good time to take a moment to detail some of those thoughts and plans for Warhammer Online in an open letter to the community.

Producer's Interview on Waaagh.de

Posted by Kai Schober | 2012 Jan 11 19:06 -0500 GMT
The German fansite and forum Waaagh.de had the chance to ask James Casey, Producer of Warhammer Online, several detailed questions about various aspects of the game.
During the second Q&A with Werit you talked about the new Grovod Caverns where you fight as a Skaven. Will we see changes to the current “Play as a Monster” system, so that buffs from pets and potions don’t get removed or return after exiting monster stage?

In the return of Grovod Caverns, the Play as Monster mechanic will operate similarly to existing offerings. We’ve made strides to ensure that some buffs that cannot be easily reapplied have exemptions, but the mechanics are the same as the current Skaven implementation. In both cases, players can make the choice to join the battle as Skaven (either by taking the form at a keep or joining the scenario) knowing that it will having a draining effect on them. We are looking at ways to expand this system in the future in a number of ways.

Q&A with James Casey

Posted by Kai Schober | 2011 Nov 28 16:17 -0500 GMT
Shortly after the interview with WAR Stratics published last week, James Casey also answered several questions for Werit's Blog.

Q: In the last Q&A, it was mentioned that Guilds and Alliances may be able to claim Fortresses.  High level, how will this work and what's in it for the claimer?

A: Correct, similar to the old system, an alliance can claim a fortress and bring more defense to bear for their realm.  Other guilds in the alliance can also spot fortify the fortress with a new mechanic being introduced.

In addition to adding physical defenses to the Fortress, claiming these spots will reward Alliance members with various buffs to help them in their defense of the Fortress. These buffs are localized to the Fortress area where they are gained, and are not the same as any buffs or bonuses gained by controlling relics.

Interview with James Casey

Posted by Kai Schober | 2011 Nov 22 19:03 -0500 GMT
WAR Stratics had the chance to conduct an interview with James Casey and Graham Bennet about the Warhammer Online franchise. While some of the questions are linked to Wrath of Heroes, several others address the plans for WAR.
"Q:  Just an estimate, but when do you hope to have Forts on the PTS for players to look at them and give them some good testing?

A:  If all goes well internally, we hope to have it on PTS in December to get peoples first reactions and let them get a chance to make the epic runs across Tier 4!"

WAR Celebrates Its 3rd Anniversary

Posted by Kai Schober | 2011 Sep 16 11:34 -0400 GMT

The sounds of celebration and battle can be heard throughout the Old World. Fireworks, cheers and the roar of battle rings in the ears of combatants from both Realms…but there are murmurs across the land of ancient powers being called forth and resources being gathered for the frontlines closest to the capital cities.

Community Update for May

Posted by Kai Schober | 2011 May 26 15:38 -0400 GMT

Greetings,

As announced in the last Community Update we are working on version 1.4.3, which is still scheduled to go live in June. We expect to bring the version to the test server ‘soon’ (which in this case translates to ‘within the next two weeks’) to give you a chance to look at the changes, including a new accessory set.

One of the main things introduce with the next patch is the upcoming event ‘Sigmar Tide’. As it will not be available on PTS – nobody wants a spoiler – we want to use this update to give you a bit more information.

Community Update for April

Posted by Kai Schober | 2011 Apr 21 20:29 -0400 GMT

Patch 1.4.2

Patch 1.4.2 is now on the live servers and receiving predominantly positive feedback; the most controversial discussion is the armor set changes - which was one of the focal points of the patch. We are eager to see how the situation on the live servers will change now - especially in T4 based on these changes.

In the meantime, we are following up this patch with the planned changes to physical mitigation that we discussed in the forums. If all goes well we can get the change on PTS to get some feedback so we can introduce the change to the live servers as soon as possible.

Speaking of next patch:  We are planning to launch version 1.4.3 in late June. We will talk about the exact highlights as the patch date approaches, but the upcoming 'Sigmar Tide' event will be an important part of that release.
